How not to swap out the SC pulley

Postby DarkRelic » Mon Apr 20, 2009 8:31 am

you know, I used a hydraulic press to get my old pulley off and my 3.4 back on. If they would have gone to that method first it would have saved them a lot of heart-ache.

I removed the snout to replace the coupler (which really didn't need to be done, but I did it anyways), so I figured I would install the smaller pulley while I was at it.

Two certified mechanics.
That's what I love about experts. Nobody can tell them anything they don't already know about their field. Not that they'd even stop to think to ask or find out. How hard is it to google +3800 +supercharger +pulley? You might even find yourself asking "what am I reading about a special pulley remover? Maybe I should click on that and find out...

There is a whole lot wrong with this only because we know better. cheeze I bet those two mech would say there is no way one could remove that pulley while the snout is still assembled to the sc. Lets see I had around 100 bucks in my pulley change over plus of course my time, I wonder how much this guy had in his pulley swap and brg change?

I spent $6 to rent a pulley puller at Kragen auto parts it worked fine I didn't have to remove the snout and really didn't know what I was doing and I it all worked out.

Is one of these them? <a title="http://shop.oreillyauto.com/ProductList.aspx?categorycode=3497" target="_blank" href="http://shop.oreillyauto.com/ProductList.aspx?categorycode=3497">http://shop.oreillyauto.com/ProductList.aspx?categorycode=3497</a> I used 91707 as the zip code since your profile says you are from Chino Hills.

X2.......................................... Don't ever use a puller like that cause you are begging for damage that you won't believe! And now that I think of it, what all have you done to your car besides the pulley change?????? Please list absolutely everything.
