How fast or how much power do you want to make? Or better yet ho much money do you have to spend and do you want the parts new or used?

Current Mods: XPZ, Stage 3 heads 150int/130exh, IRC bar/plate I/C, N*, 85mm maf, ZZP billet fuel logs, PRJ wires, 2.55, 2.8, 3.25, 3.4 pulleys and might have spun a bearing while dynoing!!!!! Worlds fastest GTP to get in the driveway to get rebuilt. No one comes close.

Well for us to really give you the best idea we would need to know some of those things I asked about cause if not the list is going to be HUGE! I mean we can say turbo it.........but just saying that adds headers, transmission, and anything else you need for adding one of those. Cam is less power but still needs a bunch of stuff to let you get all of the power out of it. Rockers you don't get as much power and it doesn't cover the entire RPM range for that power it does give. All of these things need a good amount of supporting mods to run them without KR.

< $500 Used SLP headers (check clubgp.com classifieds section, they pop up frequetly)

Tuned PCM $100 +core (check overkill motorsports)
AL 104 spark plugs ~$12
180* thermistat ~$10
Used Wizaired cold air Intake ~$100
Multiple pulley system and 3.5 pulley ~$100

This should put you close to high 13's/low14's in the quarter mile +290hp ~+300lbft torque. (stock 260hp 280lb.ft. tq)

Anything better than that will cost you more. Be sure to check out our "read first" thread. It contains a lot of great information

That setup is only good for 30hp? I always thought it would be a lot closer to 40 or 50

thats more or less the FIRST step to modifying your car. It is pretty much how it should have been built from the factory, but seeing as the idiots at GM did not grace us with a stock intercooler it is hard to push past that without cooling down the intake. once you get the first step down, if you add an intercooler setup you would get your 50hp+

Money helps a whole lot when modding. I ran a 13.4 with my 2000 gtp. I had about $2500 in mods. Stock it ran right aroung 15 flat. so thats $2500 for 1.6 seconds faster. Roughly thats $1,500 per each second that one wants to go faster in a gtp. Ok befor everyone gets in a frenzy. I agree that one can get in the low 14teens for less then 1k. but to go into the low 13teen one would have to add another $1500 and then if you wanted to go into the low 12s? Lets just say it starts to get pretty expensive. Hey one can get into the 12s for rite around $1k, just add a 200 shot of nos for 600 bucks or so and a couple other things and BAM you have it. Thats right Bam because your motor wouldn't last too long. Part of the question shoud be how fast and how long do you want to run a car?

Just start basics, soon the MOD bug will come and then you'll have a "vision".... When I got my car I didn't have a clue that I was gunna sooner or later have a , 3.0", X-P CAM, TOG headers, Full Cat Back, Racing Transmission, Tuned PCM, CAI, Ported Heads.... blah blah blah blah... Pretty much I go pretty fast n I never thought It was gunna happen... but o well I go fast and I likey.... Enjoy it... just choose whether your going to stay S/C or go Turbo... then continue from there.
