Just got a 2000 GTP

Postby dean » Tue Apr 07, 2009 4:19 pm

New to this forum, HELLO!
That's right, just last week I bought a 2000 GTP 2 door, silver, black leather interior from it's original owners. It is in excellent condition with 136k miles. It is not perfect, of course it's a 9 year old car, but does not need much. It is all stock. WHAT DID I GET MYSELF INTO?

dean, the first thing you should do is by come kind of gauge to help with mods if you choose to mod. i suggest an aeroforcer interceptor then go from there.

i really hope u mod. =D

I was thinking of installing headers and a better exhaust first. This way, if I decide to do more mods, the exhaust will already be done. If I try to get more air in, it's gotta get out, right! What is a "aeroforcer interceptor"? I just purchased some 605's today, it already has the APP 606's in it now, but there are no records of when they were installed. Also going to do the first oil change since I bought the car a week ago. The previous owners kept good records of their oil changes in the owners manual. It run's great with no pinging as it stands at the moment, but I have read about using the one step colder plugs which makes sense.

Headers will help out a lot, but the stock catback is a good design and is rated for up to 400 hp so changing that out is just for sound right now (just so you know). A better way to spend your money in the beginning instead of a aftermarket catback exhaust would be for a good Cold Air Intake (CAI) like the WizAired: <a title="http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix/products1.php?id=247&catid=113" target="_blank" href="http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix/products1.php?id=247&catid=113">http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix/products1.php?id=247&catid=113</a>
Here is the AeroForce Scan Gauge: <a title="http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix/products1.php?id=878&catid=107" target="_blank" href="http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix/products1.php?id=878&catid=107">http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix/products1.php?id=878&catid=107</a>
